Beloved actor Andy Griffith died today at the age of 86.
Former UNC President and close friend of Griffith, Bill Friday, said that he died at his home in Dare County, North Carolina around 7 a.m.
Griffith, born in Mt. Airy, N.C., starred in many nostalgic shows, such as the lead roles of The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock.
